What TODAY is REALLY ALL ABOUT!
The FREEDOM Idea…
Once upon a time someone, actually a group of “some ones” had an idea. And a burning desire to be FREE.
FREEDOM…at any cost.
The constitution of the United States is a written document that creates a government and describes HOW that government is to work. How it should be RUN, listing the POWERS that government has (and DOES NOT have) and it’s responsibilities.
I LOVE the movie National Treasure. Always have. And that’s a great description about what we HONOR on this day…VETERANS! A true National Treasure.
“We, the people of the United States,
In order to form A more perfect union,
Establish justice, Insure domestic tranquility,
Provide for the common defense, Promote the general welfare,
And secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity,
Do ordain and establish
This Constitution For the United States of America.”
Today is a day to HONOR those who have served this great nation to secure the Blessings of Liberty.
Memorial Day is to HONOR those who lost their lives in that service.
Armed Forces Day to HONOR those who are ACTIVELY SERVING NOW.
But ANYONE who took the oath that never expires…
"I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend The Constitution of The United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true Faith and Allegiance to the same...
So help me God!!"
Today is that day to HONOR them. Living VETERANS who served in whatever capacity asked or required.
I took that oath in August of 1975, Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas.
So today is not a day for a HAPPY VETERANS DAY greeting, as much as
“Sir/Madam, We HONOR YOU on this Veterans day!”
Thank YOU! To all those who have taken this oath of service; and have served with an unfailing love for God and country.
We HONOR YOU today.
